For the "SHADOW PLAY" collection, launched in 2017, NISHANE drew primarily inspiration from traditional shadow puppetry, also known as shadow marionette theater, an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment that uses flat, articulated, cut-out figures (shadow puppets) positioned between a light source and a translucent screen. The cut-outs on the puppets may include translucent colors or other types of details. Various effects can be achieved by moving both the puppets and the light source. A talented puppeteer can make the figures appear to walk, dance, fight, nod, and laugh.
